Autumn comes...

The haze in the beech forest of Malatra is being drilled by our warm sun. Intense rays are formed in this forest that seems inhabited by elves ...

_____

L'automne approche...

La brume dans la hêtraie de Malatra est en train d'être percée par notre chaleureux soleil. Des rayons intenses se forment dans cette forêt qui semble habitée par les elfes...

From the second you see the moss covered rocks your eyes are drawn deep into the frame. I can almost imagine myself stepping inside, trees all around me and the first rays of sunrise warming the skin on my face. A truly superb capture, excellently composed and exposed for. Well done you. Simon

Nice work. How'd you manage to get the foreground to come out so well? I would have thought that the sun would have caused it to come out underexposed.

So I have a question. First, did you bracket this image or use a Lee grad nd filter? Second, if you didn't bracket, did you fill in the foreground with a reflector or fill light? I'm just curious how to get the sun in such good detail while keeping enough detail to show there are trees there.

I've used Cokin grad nd filters, and I've post-producted to lighten the foreground.
These are some very difficult conditions, with strong contrasts.
